Insomniac will opt for one Spider-Man moving forward

Spoilers within.

Insomniac Games has said it will opt for one Spider-Man moving forward with sequels spawning from Spider-Man 2.

Spoilers for Spider-Man 2 follow.

Those who’ve finished Insomniac’s latest will know that Peter Parker has all but retired following the events that turned his friend Harry into Venom. According to Insomniac’s Brittney Morris, that plot line will continue.

“It always felt very natural, and I think we all collectively thought it would happen,” Morris told Gizmodo when asked if Miles would be the main Spider-Man in sequels.

“To me, it shows a great deal of evolution from Miles; at the beginning of the game, we see him struggling to figure out what he wants to do with his life. By the end, we had Miles carrying the burden of saving the city, and also carrying Pete when Pete wasn’t strong enough to carry himself at various points,” Morris continued.

“That’s what’s been so cool about writing a story about two Spider-Men: they’re both strong, and one of them can be strong when the other is not. By the end, Miles is more confident and he’s like, ‘Yeah, I got this. How much worse can things get after what we just went through?'”

Those who’ve also finished Spider-Man 2 will (perhaps?) notice a setup for Silk, another Marvel hero. While Peter might have hung up his spandex, Insomniac’s follow-up may still let players swap between two playable characters.

Spider-Man 2 is currently available on PS5; we reviewed it here.
