Drawn to Death will be free-to-play, but not pay-to-win

David Jaffe’s has confirmed his PS4 exclusive multiplayer shooter Drawn to Death will be free-to-play, but “not in the traditional sense”.

Posting on Reddit Jaffe confirms the free-to-play status of Drawn to Death, but goes on to explain that their team “don’t like pay to win and don’t like taking play mechanics away from players”. There are no actual details on how free-to-play will work in Drawn to Death, but it sounds like a more cosmetic approach to paid content will be used.

Arena shooters are a small enough genre these days that free-to-play is a good choice to maximise the player base, but whether that is a profitable choice remains to be seen. Drawn to Death is a PS4 exclusive without a release date as yet.
