Big Ant details Cricket 22 anti-piracy tactics

Hope you didn't want to win that coin toss...

Aussie developer Big Ant has detailed the Cricket 22 anti-piracy tactics being employed to encourage players to buy legitimate copies of the title.

Big Ant CEO Ross Symons took to Twitter to boast that sales had skyrocketed on Steam since anti-piracy tools had been implemented.

“Turned piracy protection on for [Cricket 22] – Steam sales are up 300%,” Symons wrote. “Thanks to those that converted to a legitimate version, for those still thinking about it, if you purchase now then you will automatically get to keep your progress.”

Responding to a question from GAMURS Group’s Alex Walker, Symons explained the specifics of what was occuring.

“It turns the screen white [to those who’ve pirated the game],” Symons said. “We also have other things in store, like the previous, where you 100% lose the toss, field then it rains forever at your first bat, kill the controller and report controller batteries to be flat, lot’s of little things we can turn on at off at a whim.”

Cricket 22 is available now on Windows PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series S & X, PS4 and PS5.
