Confirmed: DICE says Battlefield 5 but stylises it as Battlefield V

Definitively: it’s Battlefield 5, but stylised as Battlefield V.

As part of reveal proceedings today — and as evidenced in tonight’s reveal livestream, hosted by The Daily Show’s Trevor Noah — the game’s title is pronounced as “Battlefield 5″.

“It reads out loud — I say, Battlefield 5 — but when you type it, you use V,” Design Director Daniel Verlin confirmed with Stevivor afterward.

As for as the V for Victory ideal, Verlin confirmed fans were onto something ahead of the confirmation that Battlefield 5 takes place in World War II.

“There is a connection there,” he said with a smile.

A small note, but important nonetheless.

Battlefield 5 has multiple release dates, but the latest you can expect the game on Windows PC, Xbox One and PS4 is 19 October.
