Death Stranding guide: Bring Edge Knot City onto the Chiral Network

Death Stranding is out now and players are slowly working their way across the former United States of America in order to fortify the United Cities of America. This guide will show you what to do when you get to the western side of the country and need to bring Edge Knot City onto the Chiral Network.

As you’ve likely guessed, spoilers lie ahead. Read at your own risk.

How to connect Edge Knot City

When you get to the far west, near Edge Knot City, you’ll find a tar pit blocking your path to the all-important node. What you’ll need to do here — as “Helpful Hints” will eventually spell out — is find BTs and let Sam be captured by them. This will the tar pit to react, effectively allowing Sam the chance to cross it.

You’ll find BTs at an area southwest of the Chiral Relay, or half-constructed bridge. My game had signs designating the area, but if not, refer to the screenshot (or video) below. Click the image for a larger view if need be.

How to cross the tar pit near Edge Knot City

When you get close, of course, BB will warn you of BTs — use whatever the thing on your left shoulder is called to get to the BBs quickly, doing nothing in retaliation as they attack you. The BTs will carry you into the tar pit, where you’ll eventually start to see buildings and debris emerge; that’s what you’ll use to cross the pit.

Amelie will be awaiting you at the end of the tar pit obstacle course — she’s indicated by an orange strand extending into the air. As another “Helpful Hint” reads, approach her to finish off the section.

Death Stranding is available now on PS4; it heads to Windows PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store in 2020.
