Destiny 2 Solstice of Heroes 2019 event starts next week

The Destiny 2 Solstice of Heroes 2019 event starts soon and offers new rewards alongside the chance to celebrate your accomplishments as a Guardian.

Solstice 2019 armour

Solstice of Heroes will award you a “Drained” set of armour, tasking you to repair it to
“Renewed” state by accomplishing a specific set of objectives per armoud piece. The armour will be your first 2.0 set, useful for the Shadowkeep expansion.

“This means that whatever full Legendary sets you earn now will have their new armor 2.0 versions waiting for you to pick up from the Gunsmith when Shadowkeep releases,” Bungie asserted. “You will be able to see only the set for the character you are logged in as; you will have to switch characters to claim other eligible sets.”

Moreover, you’re also able to apply Armour Glows to the sets — you can see examples of this in the screenshot above.

Those who can bring all three sets — Hunter, Warlock and Titan — to “Renewed” state will be awarded with the EV-37 Voidstreak Sparrow.

Elemental buffs

Each day, one of the game’s three elements — Solar, Arc or Void — will be featured. All elemental kills made will rewards you with orbs of whichever of the elements is being focused on that day. Said orbs can be used to complete objectives which, in turn, will upgrade special Solstice armour.

Elemental buffs are as follows:

  • Solar: Equip your Solar subclass and weapons to generate Solar orbs. Then, collect them to wield their Solar elemental power. While empowered, Guardians emit a burning wave of energy that damages anything around them.
  • Void: Equip your Void subclass and weapons to generate Void orbs. Then, collect them to wield their Void elemental power. Crouch while empowered to become invisible and gain Truesight plus enhanced ability regeneration.
  • Arc: Equip your Arc subclass and weapons to generate Arc orbs. Then, collect them to wield their Arc elemental power. While empowered, Guardians move with enhanced speed and deal greater melee and Sword damage.

A new area: the European Aerial Zone (EAZ)

The EAZ is a new three-player activity that pits you against Fallen, Cabal or Hive enemies.

“Your goal will be to defeat as many minibosses as possible before time expires. When your time runs out, you will face off against a final boss. Once the boss is defeated, you will set out across the EAZ in search of treasure chests. The more minibosses you defeat, the more treasure will await you,” Bungie said of the new area.

“The chests contain Solstice Packages that you can open with Solstice Key Fragments earned by completing any activity during the Solstice of Heroes. Consider them similar to Essence of Dawning.”

Solstice Packages

Here’s what you’ll find in said Solstice Packages:

  • Rare and Legendary gear
  • Enhancement Cores
  • Materials

Moments of Triumph

Two Solstice-specific Moments of Triumph will be available during the event.

The Destiny 2 Solstice of Heroes 2019 event runs between 30 July to 27 August. The game is available now on Windows PC, Xbox One and PS4.
