Sony re-wrote their E3 2013 press conference after watching Microsoft’s

Sony might have bombed at this year’s E3 with their overly long press conference, but they absolutely owned last year’s. It was the equivalent of a mic drop, with Sony ripping into Microsoft due to their higher-priced Xbox One and focus away from video games.

Recently, Sony Computer Entertainment’s Andrew House revealed to Eurogamer that Sony’s press conference was completely rewritten on the day, after Microsoft’s presser, to take advantage of the situation.

The press conference was written to rip into Microsoft’s DRM and potential always-online strategy, but was changed after the Xbox One-centric conference to focus on what Sony would offer their customers.

“I remember reading an article literally the weekend before E3 that was basically saying that this is the direction Microsoft was taking and that it was only a matter of time before Sony adopts the same approach,” House said. “That sort of put me on the back foot and I went and re-wrote portions of my E3 presentation script that weekend and we re-crafted the presentation because there was now an onus on us not to be seen to be going down the same path.”
