Apex Legends Revelry doesn’t have a new Legend, but changes things up

Classes and perks inbound.

Apex Legends Revelry is the popular shooter’s next season and will dramatically change things up instead of introducing a new playable Legend.

“This season we’re going to shake it up. We’re going to reset the playing field,” said Steve Ferreira, Game Director. “We’re going to make it more accessible than it’s ever been and nothing is safe.”

Perhaps the biggest change Revelry will bring is a touchup of each and every Legend within the game. Every Legend will soon fit within one of five reworked, remastered classes: Assault, Skirmisher, Recon, Controller and Support. New perks will help to bolster these changes.

“Each class is going to have a unique, meaningful perk,” said Evan Nikolich, Design Director. “With the classes and perks we’re looking to create new and compelling ways to play the game and create new team compositions.

“But then we’re also going to deep dive into existing Legends, giving a few buffs and a few nerfs.”

Respawn has confirmed that six Legends will be getting extensive balance updates; Wraith, Lifeline and Seer will make up half of that list.

Outside of Legends, Respawn will be dropping Arenas, saying it’s not performing to expectations.

“We took a hard look at Arenas in its current state we feel Arenas is missing the mark for our players,”  Nikolich said. “It’s not achieving the team’s goals for it too. That’s why we’ve made the difficult decision to sunset Arenas at this time.”

A persistent playlist of rotating game modes called Mixtape will essentially take its place, offering up chances to play the likes of Team Deathmatch, Control, and Gun Run. The rotation will swap out once every three weeks; Team Deathmatch will kick things off, pitting two teams of six against one another in a best-of-three format.

A new weapon will also be introduced in the form of the Nemesis, a new energy-class assault rifle with four rounds per burst.

New players to Apex (do they exist? Surely everyone has played before!) will be able to try a new orientation matching system that will not only introduce them to the world of Legends but try out skills against bots in solo and group action. The functionality only appears available to first-time players, so keep that in mind if you’re unable to queue against the aforementioned bots.

Finally, a series of two big login rewards will be available to all players, as follows:

  • Login daily between 14-21 February: Receive Crypto and a pack with a guaranteed Crypto-specific drop
  • Login daily between 21-28 February: Receive Ash and a pack with a guaranted Ash-specific drop

Apex Legends is currently available on Windows PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X, PS4, PS5 and Switch. Expect Revelry from 14 February (and Happy Valentine’s Day!).
