Yu Suzuki talks Shenmue III battle systems

Shenmue creator Yu Suzuki spoke with Dualshockers about the progress of Shenmue III, offering a whole lot of new information on everything from bosses to romance subplots. You can read the full interview here.

The highlight for me is the new AI battling system, currently a stretch goal for reaching $7 million in crowd funding, which will improve the dynamic reactions of Ryo to his opponents position and the world around him. This will be part of a process to simplify combat and make it more cinematic. Suzuki also talks more about the technical details of the game, why he chose the Unreal Engine 4, hiring the man behind the Shenmue HD fan project and the movies that have inspired him.

Shenmue III is very tentatively set for release in 2017 on PC and PS4. You can contribute to the crowd funding efforts here.
