You’ve now got til the end of 2024 to transition your Stadia controller

Users get a one-year extension regarding a planned cutover.

Google Stadia users now have an extra year to transition their Stadia controller to then be used on a different platform, Google has advised.

As we reported back in January of this year, Stadia users will given a self-service tool that would transition their Stadia controller to a Bluetooth controller that would pair with other platforms and systems. The self-service tool was a one-way affair, meaning that once you switched away from Stadia, you weren’t able to go back.

While that choice might seem dire, don’t forget that Google shut down Stadia back on 18 January of this year, meaning that Stadia controller is of little use as-is.

If for some reason you haven’t already swapped your controller over, you’ve now got until 31 December 2024 rather than the original due date of 31 December 2023. Why waste time, though? Head here and use a Google Chrome browser to start the swap.

Google Stadia was never officially available within Australia.
