Xbox Live Rewards changes to Microsoft Rewards in Australia

Xbox Live Rewards members in Australia will be transitioned to a program called Microsoft Rewards, the company today confirmed.

“Just like Xbox Live Rewards, you’ll earn rewards when you buy games, movies, and more for your Xbox, but soon you’ll be able to earn in more ways,” the new Microsoft Rewards website confirmed.

“Your Xbox Live Rewards membership will automatically update in the next few weeks—the only thing you need to do is learn about what’s coming.”

The system is points-based; members will earn points by shopping on the Microsoft Store, the Xbox Store, using Bing and browsing via Microsoft Edge.

The program has two tiers: Level 1 and 2. Those who belonged to Xbox Live Rewards will be boosted to Level 2 until 30 September 2017, and those with a MyVIP Star Rank will keep Level 2 status until 31 December 2018. To keep Level 2 after that date, members will need to earn 500 points per month.

Previously, the Xbox Live Rewards program earned users credits for shopping on the Xbox Store.
