Xbox Cloud Streaming now on Xbox PC app (but not in Australia)

Soon?

Xbox Cloud Streaming is now available to all supported regions through the Xbox PC app, Microsoft has today confirmed. Sadly, that doesn’t include those of here in Australia as yet.

Nevertheless, Microsoft celebrated the completion of its Project xCloud Preview program with a video to those who helped test the feature.

While he didn’t give us a set date, Xbox head Phil Spencer included a shoutout to us Aussies.

“Thanks to you, later this year, Project xCloud is graduating to Beta and will be available on Apple phones & tablets, Windows PCs, and Android phones & tablets, for players in Australia, included as part of the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription at no additional charge,” he wrote.

Checking in with Xbox ANZ this morning, we sadly weren’t provided a specific launch date beyond the blanket target of 2021.

“[We’re] confirming Cloud gaming through Xbox Game Pass Ultimate will launch in Australia later this year.”

Those in currently supported regions will find the new support within the updated Windows 10 PC app. Connect a compatible controller, fire up the app and you’ll be able to play games via the cloud instantly.

Supported regions are as follows:

  • Austria
  • Belgium
  • Canada
  • Czech Republic
  • Denmark
  • Finland
  • France
  • Germany
  • Hungary
  • Ireland
  • Italy
  • Netherlands
  • Norway
  • Poland
  • Portugal
  • Slovakia
  • Spain
  • South Korea
  • Sweden
  • Switzerland
  • United Kingdom
  • United States

Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers in the countries above can access Xbox Cloud Gaming via the Windows 10 PC app, the Xbox Android app and via browser on PC and iOS devices.

We’ll keep you posted on Xbox Cloud Gaming here within Australia.
