Xbox Cloud Gaming heads to consoles this holiday

Try before you buy.

Xbox Cloud Gaming will head to Xbox One, Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X this holiday season, letting players start games without the need to download them first.

“We’re bringing cloud gaming to Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One this holiday, enabling Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members to play 100+ games right from the cloud and discover new games with the click of a button,” Microsoft’s Jake Rosenberg said over on Xbox Wire.

Rosenberg also confirmed that the console’s Xbox Cloud Gaming capabilities will be capped at 1080p and 60FPS (frames-per-second), “just like Xbox Cloud Gaming (Beta) across PCs, phones and tablets.”

We’ve asked Microsoft Australia for comment on what this means to the Australian rollout date for Xbox Cloud Gaming proper and will report back as we learn more.

Australia is currently in the middle of an xCloud trial on Android, though Microsoft has promised that Xbox Cloud Gaming proper will be in the country before the end of the year.
