Uncharted 4 to learn from The Last of Us, offer more variety in combat

Talking with Game Informer, Uncharted 4 game director Bruce Straley and creative director Neil Druckmann revealed their plans for the current generation debut of the defining Playstation 3 franchise. The influence of The Last of Us is apparent, Naughty Dog are looking to expand combat beyond the cover shooter fare of last generation with verticality and enemies that will force you to move and flank.

There will still be the set pieces the series is known for, but flow is often mentioned in relation to combat and it sounds like Naughty Dog are both learning from what gamers loved about The Last of Us and are determined to make Uncharted 4 a new and improved experience. The entire interview is a fascinating insight into the development of the game and the relationship between Naughty Dog’s two big franchises, and can be viewed here.
