The Witcher 3 features life-like beard growth technology

Geralt’s beard grows in The Witcher 3. I don’t know why I find that such a cool bit of information, but I do. Maybe because it indicates just how deep CD Projekt Red are getting in to fine details, or maybe because I have failed so many times in my life at beard growth that playing ‘Beard Growing Simulator 2015’ is something i can get behind.

NeoGAF found the tidbit in translating a German gaming magazine, which was then expanded upon by Eurogamer. It turns out the beard has several states of length, which Geralt will shift through as time passes in game.

It sounds like a joke, but the CD Projekt Red communications chief confirmed to Eurogamer that beards and hairstyles can also be locked in place with a specific “beard and hairstyle” DLC, as you don’t want your carefully crafted look being tarnished by natural growth, and Witchers just don’t have time for visits to the barber.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt: Beard Growing Simulator 2015 is out 19 May for PS4, Xbox One and PC.
