The Last of US TV producers will break Part 2 into multiple seasons

Get ready for some prolonged heartbreak...

The Last of Us TV show season one has just concluded, and producers are clearly hard at work on future seasons. Speaking with GQ, Craig Mazin confirmed that The Last of Us Part 2 would be broken up into multiple television seasons.

“No. No way,” Mazin told the outlet when asked if the TV show’s second season would cover all of the events of Naughty Dog’s sequel (and the most current iteration of the franchise).

“It’s more than one season,” Naughty Dog’s Neil Druckmann added.

Neither Mazin nor Druckmann confirmed just how many seasons Part 2 would be broken up into, but our bet would be on two. We won’t get into spoilers here, but those who’ve played the title likely know why.

If you’re across what happens in the next game, Druckmann said he doesn’t care how polarising subsequent TV seasons will be.

“I don’t care. How they react is how they react, that is completely outside of our control,” Druckmann said in regards to the large plot point that occurs relatively early into Part 2.

“So how do we make the best TV show version of that story? That’s the problem that we wrestle with every day,” Druckmann continued.

The Last of Us season one is currently available to stream in its entirety on Binge here in Australia.
