Star Wars Battlefront 2 sales down 50% compared to Battlefront

Star Wars Battlefront 2 UK sales are down 50% compared to 2015’s Battlefront 1, according to new report by GamesIndustry.

Boxed copy sales of Battlefront 2 are down a whopping 61%, the site reported.

Of total sales, the PS4 version makes up for 55% of purchases, the Xbox One is at 44% and just 1% is from PC sales.

It looks like players are voting with their wallets after Battlefront 2‘s huge microtransaction controversy. Since the game’s beta, fans have complained the game is too pay-to-win. Despite changes by EA after the beta, early access players and reviewers said the game was still slanted in that way.

Just ahead of release, EA confirmed it had temporarily disabled all in-game purchases. Reports suggest that the decision was essentially made by Disney, not EA.

Our provisional review of Battlefront 2 is sitting at 4/10 at the time of writing.
