Star Trek Section 31 TV series starring Michelle Yeoh confirmed

A new Star Trek Section 31 TV series starring Michelle Yeoh has been confirmed by CBS for its CBS All Access service.

Spoilers lie ahead.

Yeoh will reprise her role as Captain Empress Philippa Georgiou of the Mirror Universe, a character who’s been transported to the Prime Universe and has taken up where the proper Starfleet officer has left off. At the end of Star Trek: Discovery Season 1, Georgiou joined Section 31, a clandestine secret ops agency that’s primarily appeared in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.

“I’m so excited to continue telling these rich Star Trek stories,” Yeoh told Variety. “Being a part of this universe and this character specifically has been such a joy for me to play. I can’t wait to see where it all goes – certainly I believe it will go ‘where no WOMAN has ever gone before!’”

Yeoh will also appear as Georgiou in Discovery‘s second season — it starts airing on Netflix here in Australia later in the week.

In addition to this new Section 31 series, CBS is also working on a Jean-Luc Picard series and an animated series called Star Trek: Lower Decks.

What do you make of the news? Are you excited to learn more of Section 31, or would you rather the organisation remain in the shadows?
