A Star Trek animated series in the works at Nickelodeon

A children’s Star Trek animated series in the works at Nickelodeon in collaboration with CBS, it’s been reported.

This child-focused animated series is removed from the adult-focused series, Star Trek: Lower Decks, which is developed by Rick and Morty‘s Mike McMahan. It’s also removed from the additional animated Short Treks currently in production.

Deadline reports that the animated series is a “major tentpole series for Nickelodeon under its new president Brian Robbins.” It will be written by Emmy Award-winning duo Kevin and Dan Hageman.

There are a lot of new Star Trek shows being greenlit at present; in addition to Star Trek: Discovery, a Jean-Luc Picard series is underway alongside Star Trek: Lower Decks and a Section 31 spin-off starring Crazy Rich Asians‘ Michelle Yeoh.
