Sony’s PS3/Vita Cross Buy initiative will save you cash, stress

You know how upcoming PS3/Vita games like PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale and Ratchet & Clank: QForce have boasted cross-platform play, but haven’t mentioned if you’d need to buy a copy of the game for each console to take advantage of it? Well Sony fanboys, breathe a little easier: Sony confirmed in their Gamescom press conference yesterday that the aforementioned titles, plus the Sly Cooper Collection, will take advantage of the “Cross Buy” initiative.

Sony confirmed today that buying a Cross Buy title on PS3 will grant you a free Vita copy. It doesn’t look like the offer works the other way round (buy a Vita game, get a PS3 one free), so if you want to take advantage of this offer, make sure you do it the right way. It makes sense, too — you’re getting a copy of the game for free, so you’re going to have to pay for the more expensive version of it.

What do you think of this new initiative, gamers?
