Sony has officially discontinued the PlayStation Vita

Sony has officially discontinued the last two PlayStation Vita models left available to consumers.

The Vita first launched in Japan back in 2011 and Australia in 2012. Despite lacklustre sales, it remains a favourite of many gamers — I personally owe my appreciation to Persona 4 and many other JRPGs to it.

Sony’s official confirmation has come just before the finals days that PlayStation Vita (and PS3) titles will be offered as part of the company’s PlayStation Plus subscription program. Sony has not announced a new handheld console to replace the Vita.

Are you saddened to see the Vita go? Why not share your favourite memories of the console with us, either in the comments below or via social media?
