Snubbed again: Only three countries to get Xbox One DVR functionality at launch

Australia once again misses out.

Microsoft today revealed that only three countries will receive Xbox One DVR functionality at launch: the USA, UK and Canada.

The free functionality will allow for recording of over-the-air TV onto a separate HDD. Said content can be played back on the Xbox One, or via streaming to tablets, PCs and smartphones using Xbox One SmartGlass or the Xbox app.

Though Australia is a region with the Xbox One Digital TV Tuner, it doesn’t look like we’ll get the DVR feature to match for a while, at least.

This won’t be the first time Australia is late to the party; the UK got the Xbox One Digital TV Tuner ahead of our country. Aussie Windows 10 users are eagerly awaiting Cortana, the Windows 10 personal assistant already enjoyed in many other countries in the world.

We’ve asked Microsoft here in Australia for more information.
