Sea of Thieves Insiders get a guaranteed invite to its alpha

Those who sign up as Sea of Thieves Insiders will get a guaranteed invite to the game’s next technical alpha play session, Rare today confirmed.

Everyone who joins the Insider Programme by the cut-off date of Dec. 1 will be invited to the next play session – our biggest and best yet – with the latest brace of brand new features to test,” Rare’s Emma Bridle promised on Xbox Wire.

“Yes, as promised, all eligible Insiders are now getting their chance to jump in and play Sea of Thieves before its release next year.”

Bridle added that Sea of Thieves’ technical alpha started with just 1,000 players and is now up to almost 200,000. That’s a lot of pirates.

This looks to be what Rare’s Joe Neate was alluding to when he spoke with Stevivor at PAX AUS. There, Neate said Rare was planning to go big in terms of getting new players access to the game.

Sea of Thieves heads to Windows PC and Xbox One next year. Sign up by the end of the month to play early.
