Nintendo asking devs to make Switch games 4K ready, says report

Nintendo has begun to ask developers to make their Switch games “4K-ready” according to a new report from Bloomberg.

The site reports that several anonymous game developers have said that “Nintendo has asked them to make their games 4K-ready.”

This report comes after earlier ones which suggest that Nintendo is planning a Switch refresh that will bring the handheld, home hybrid console up to 4K resolution. Currently, the Switch can only hit 1080p in docked mode through a television or monitor.

We’ll report back as we hear more — but in the meantime, would you be interested in buying a 4K Switch on the eve of next-gen consoles like the Xbox Series X and PS5? If rumours are true, we won’t see the 4K Switch until next year.
