Anthem reportedly bricking PS4s; Sony reportedly offering refunds

A wave of reports regarding Anthem‘s stability have emerged, with many suggesting Anthem is bricking PS4 consoles to the point where Sony is offering refunds with no questions asked.

Over on Reddit, ForTheMasters detailed the many times Anthem had either crashed and reset to the PS4 dashboard or actually even turns off his console. Comments on the post by many more detail that console shutdowns are treated by the PS4 as if a player had improperly shut the console down, for example by pulling a power cord out as the console was on.

Other comments still detail that players have difficulty turning their PS4s back on after they shutdown in this manner; most are able to get things up and running again by pulling out the console’s power cord for a short time, then reconnecting it and turning it on.

Others in the same Reddit thread are reporting that Sony is refunding Anthem purchases with no questions asked.

“Sony is aware of the issue and is offering a complete refund on Anthem no questions asked. Took me 5 minutes,” said Redditor SoundAndFury87 wrote.

Another said that they approached Sony and said, the “game is broken on PS4” and asked for a refund. “And they helped right away, no problem at all,” the user added. “Just provided some account info after that, that they needed, and then it was refunded.”

Anthem is available now on Windows PC, Xbox One and PS4.
