Returnal Ascension update coming March 2022

Get hype!

Returnal Ascension is the name of a free update coming to the title later this month.

The update includes campaign co-op and a new survival mode, Sony and Housemarque today confirmed.

Ascension will make up Returnal‘s update 3.0, and seems to involve a mysterious tower tied to protagonist Selene’s fate. It’s currently unclear how campaign co-op will work within the title; we’ll keep you informed as we learn more.

Returnal Ascension adds Co-op Mode, allowing you to share your entire journey through the shifting labyrinth of Atropos with another player,” Sony said in a statement.

“This update also adds The Tower of Sisyphus – accessible as long as you’ve unlocked the Icarian Grapnel,” Sony continued. “It’s an ascending gauntlet of increasingly dangerous phases, with each containing twenty floors. Upon entry, eliminate all the enemies on each floor and secure your passage to the next one up. Just be ready for what you might encounter within…”

Returnal is currently available on PS5. The Ascension update is expected from 22 March 2022.
