PS5 launch game file sizes revealed by Sony

Two of Sony’s big PS5 launch game files sizes have today been revealed, and they’re on par with what was expected.

Sony recently divulged details of two — or three, depending on how you think of it — launch game file sizes, as follows:

  • Demon’s Souls: 66GB
  • Spider-Man Miles Morales Standard Edition: 50GB
  • Spider-Man Miles Morales Ultimate Edition (including Spider-Man Remastered): 105GB

Miles Morales is tellingly 5GB smaller than Spider-Man Remastered, a PS4 title remastered and re-released as part of the PS5 mini-sequel.

As we’ve detailed, the titles need to be on the PS5’s internal hard drive or (a list of currently unconfirmed) external drives to play. While games can be stored on the USB 3.0 HDDs you’ve likely got in place for your current-gen consoles, they aren’t playable from said drives. Keep that in mind, as the PS4’s 825GB SSD will fill up quick.

The PS5, Spider-Man Miles Morales and Demon’s Souls all head to PS5 on 12 November; Miles Morales will also be available on PS4 on the same date.
