PlayStation VR’s Cinematic mode can be used with Xbox One, other consoles and HDMI inputs

PlayStation VR users have discovered that the unit’s Cinematic mode will work with just about anything that uses HDMI inputs.

Users have hooked the PS VR up to things like Xbox One, Wii U and more, and found that the PlayStation VR headset will take the input from anything over HDMI, presenting it in the special viewing mode.

Since the headset works via a split HDMI signal, its Cinematic mode essentially simulates a gigantic cinema theatre screen with whatever’s being streamed through HDMI into it. While it’s neat, the downside is that the mode displays in a low-quality mode — you’ll be trading off crisp, clear visuals for a large, VR-rendered projection.

To give it a try, plug the HDMI cable from your Xbox One or other device into the PS VR’s processing unit, then HDMI cables from the unit to your TV and to the headset.

Thanks, Beau.
