Australians can now test Niantic’s Pikmin mobile app

Get on it!

Niantic’s new Pikmin mobile app is now available for testing within Australia, making it the second country to be able to do so.

First announced in March of this year, the Pikmin mobile app is planned for a global release sometime in 2021. We’re getting a little early taste from today, however — those Australians who register to try the app out may find themselves with an approval email very soon.

The registration page allows for both iOS and Android device users, so cross your fingers no matter the mobile device type you use.

The popular Pokemon Go developer loves using Australia to test out new things — we had a bit of a jump on Pokemon Go when compared to other countries, and Australia will also be trialling a 5G-powered augmented reality (AR) battle multiplayer game demo called Codename Urban Legends thanks to a partnership between the developer and local telco Telstra.

We’ll keep you updated as we learn more of the Pikmin mobile app.
