Pictures: The Mortal Kombat HD remake that almost was

Mortal Kombat Arcade Kollection HD was originally planned to be a remake of the first three Mortal Kombat titles featuring actual motion capture, but sadly that didn’t come to be.

Today, make-up artist Tanea Brooks allows us to get a taste for what that games would have looked like, thanks to recently-published photos taken during production.

Take a look at some of Brooks’ work:

You can head to Brooks’ website to see pictures featuring Shao Kahn, Sonya Blade, Liu Kang, Kung Lao, Kitana and more.

The project was scrapped, and Midway and Warner Bros. just ended up bundling the original titles as the Mortal Kombat Arcade Kollection instead.

Rumour has it that Ed Boon has a Mortal Kombat announcement to make at this year’s E3. We’ll keep our ear to the ground on it for you.
