Perfect Dark, Fable placeholder Twitter accounts “standard practice”

Recently discovered Perfect Dark and Fable placeholder Twitter accounts have been called just that and explained as “standard practice” by Microsoft’s Aaron Greenberg.

Ahead of Microsoft’s big first-party Xbox Series X games reveal in July, eagle-eyed fans found accounts for both Fable and Perfect Dark sitting on Twitter over the weekend, with both registered using Microsoft email addresses.

Greenberg took to Twitter in an attempt to explain, saying, “I know everyone is hungry for news, but sorry to get your hopes up. These accounts have been inactive for years, it’s standard practice to secure social handles for our IP.”

While fans hope that The Coalition is working on a Perfect Dark reboot, nothing’s been confirmed at this time. Fable, on the other hand, is a little different, with various leaks over the last few years suggesting Forza Horizon developer Playground Games is hard at work on a sequel.

Standard practice or not, we’re likely to get a definitive answer on whether or not new Fable and Perfect Dark games will feature on Xbox Series X in the next few weeks.
