No Man’s Sky uses Star Trek, Watchmen talent to craft a rich lore

No Man’s Sky‘s lore is more important than a traditional, linear storyline, Hello Games’ Sean Murray has asserted.

Hello Games employed the talents of Dave Gibbons, co-creator of DC’s Watchmen and 2000 AD’s Rogue Trooper alongside Star Trek, Deus Ex and Warhammer 40,000 scribe James Swallow to help craft a rich and detailed universe.

“Hopefully everything you find has a reason for existing,” Murray said. “When you see a building, we’ve tried to think of who might have built it, and why. It’s something we’re excited to see fans uncover as they play, and put their own interpretations on.”

No Man’s Sky will be available from 21 June on Windows PC and PS4.
