Microsoft confirms it has ceased production of the original Xbox One

The manufacture of the original Xbox One has officially been ceased, Microsoft has confirmed.

“As is typical for the console industry, we stopped manufacturing the original Xbox One when we introduced Xbox One S,” a Microsoft representative said in a statement to Glixel.

Suggestions that manufacturing had ceased began earlier in the week.

The Xbox One S is now the console’s baseline, capable of 4K upscaling and HDR. The true 4K-capable Xbox One X heads to store shelves in November of this year.

Time to pour one out for the original Xbox One?
