The Last of Us Remastered loading times drastically improved on PS4

The Last of Us Remastered loading times have been drastically improved on PS4 in advance of the title’s availability on PS5 as part the PlayStation Plus Collection.

“Patch 1.11 of TLOU made it so loading screens are basically non-existent on PS4,” speedrunner Anthony Calabrese wrote on Twitter. “This is for both SSD and HDD. Sections load in ASAP and I can save almost 18 seconds in the David fight.”

While Sony and Naughty Dog have yet to explain the patch and how these increased loading times are occuring, many believe it to be the result of new compression algorithms called Kraken and Oodle Textures. Regardless, it looks as if Naughty Dog might be tightening the game up ahead of the PS5’s launch… and those on PS4 benefit too.

The Last of Us Remastered is currently available on PS5; it’ll be playable on PS5 from 12 November.
