The Halo Master Chief Collection 4K update is a huge 73GB

Update: The Halo Master Chief Collection custom installation lets you decide what to install, and when — check it out here.

Original story: The Halo Master Chief Collection 4K update has been confirmed at around 73GB, Microsoft and 343 Industries have today declared.

The update means that the game will offer 4K UHD and HDR in all games bundled with the collection, including Halo 3: ODST, which was added after The Master Chief Collection‘s launch. An Xbox One X is required for the 4K visuals, of course.

“A new HDR and SDR video settings option has been added to the game to provide fine-tuning and calibration options to ensure MCC looks as good as possible across a variety of different hardware setups and personal preferences,” 343 confirmed.

A number of matchmaking changes and new multiplayer game type playlists will also be bundled with the update, as will offline LAN support. For more on the update, head here.

The big update heads to Halo: The Master Chief Collection on 1 September, the same date the game gets added to Xbox Game Pass. The title is exclusive to Xbox One.
