Halo Infinite devs “looking at Battle Pass progression” after complaints

We don't have time to kill people with a Pulse Rifle, 343!

Halo Infinite developer 343 Industries is “looking at Battle Pass progression” after many complaints from players and fans.

Simply put, players are unhappy that Battle Pass progression is tied to a series of Weekly and Daily Challenges that have to be accomplished to progress… or require you to pay real world money to skip a challenge otherwise. We highlighted the problem in our Halo Infinite review in progress.

A Reddit Megathread is currently compiling complaints, but Randy191919 hits the nail on the head.

“It forces you to play the way the game wants instead of the way you want,” he said in one of three main points. “You hate Capture the Flag? Too bad, the game just decided you want to play it now.”

343 has acknowledged complaints and has said it will look into alternatives.

“We’re aware that there are some desired changes for a broader progression system outside of the Battle Pass,” reads a post on Halo Waypoint posted over a week ago.

“After last flight, we have adjusted our Daily Challenges to be more focused on a per match play model. The other big issue was making Double XP boosts more time-efficient in match on usage, this is something we agree with and are looking at a solution we can provide at a future date. While we explore those changes, which could be larger undertakings, we’re also looking into faster options such as ways to increase how frequently XP is given out via Challenges and potentially tying XP Boosts to matches played rather than time.

“The team is looking at Battle Pass progression and gathering data from yesterday’s sessions and we’ll share updates as we have them,” added Community Manager Brian Jarrard, in a post on Twitter dated after the launch of multiplayer proper.

Halo Infinite multiplayer is now live on Windows PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X. Single-player heads to the title on 8 December.
