Gran Turismo Sport going offline in 2024

Gran Turismo Sport will be taken offline in January 2024, Sony and Polyphony have recently announced.

The title is a mostly always-online affair that was first released in 2017.

“After the end of service date, it will no longer be possible to utilise online services such as the Community, Open Lobby, and the Sport mode, nor online features/items such as custom liveries,” reads a statement. “The offline portions of the game can still be played, including all previously purchased Downloadable Content.”

An FAQ suggests that world circuits will still be available to play, but functionality including Community, Open Lobby, Sport Mode, Seasonal Events, the Mileage Store and Garage Car liveries will not. Trophies that need to be earned in online modes will also be unavailable.

“We would like to thank the many users of the Gran Turismo Sport online service since its first launch in 2017,” the statement continued. “From here on, we will continue to further improve the online services for the currently available title Gran Turismo 7 on PlayStation 4 system and PlayStation 5 console.”

Purchaseable downloadable content will be taken away from sales on 1 December 2023, followed by the removal of online services from 31 January 2024.
