Google Stadia controllers can now be switched to Bluetooth mode

Though it's a one-time only affair.

Google Stadia controllers can now be switched to Bluetooth mode and paired with other platforms, Google has today announced.

The change, however, is a one-way affair — once you’ve got a Bluetooth-enabled Stadia controller, you’ve always got one.

“You can still play wired with USB in Bluetooth mode,” Google added.

If you’re okay with that, you can head to this page using Google Chrome to begin the self-serve switch process.

The self-serve site will remain available until the end of 2023 (31 December 2023); on the page, users can “switch to Bluetooth mode, check the controller mode and check for Bluetooth updates,” Google advised. The page also sports an FAQ section if you’ve got more questions or are in need of assistance.

Google’s Stadia platform is due for closure today, 18 January.
