God of War Ragnarok formally announced

"It's real," Sony Santa Monica proclaims.

God of War Ragnarok is now official, with Sony Santa Monica’s sequel being formally named and announced.

First expected in 2021 and then delayed into 2022, today’s announcement didn’t detail when we can expect to play Kratos’ latest adventure.

“As you can see in the trailer [below], we’re picking up a few years after the events of God of War (2018),” wrote Sony Santa Monica’s Grace Orlady on the PlayStation Blog.

“The freezing winds of Fimbulwinter have come to Midgard, making survival for Kratos, Atreus, and Mimir in the Norse wilds even more challenging than before.”

The post also confirmed that Ragnarok will focus on the vision Kratos experienced at the end of the 2018 title, one that deals heavily with Atreus (we wouldn’t fream of spoiling it for you, don’t worry!).

We’ll have more on God of War Ragnarok as it’s made available.
