Ghost of Tsushima PC release will not require link to PlayStation Network

This is just getting more and more confusing...

Ghost of Tsushima developer Sucker Punch has confirmed that the game’s upcoming PC release will not require a mandatory link back to the PlayStation Network, despite a recent announcement that Helldivers 2 will.

Responding to a question on Twitter, Sucker Punch said that “a PSN account is required for Legends online multiplayer mode and to use PlayStation overlay. It is not required to play the singleplayer game.”

As players note with Helldivers 2, the mandatory linking back to the PlayStation Network has meant that the title had to be pulled from sale in 177 countries where the PlayStation Network isn’t supported, but Steam is.

As Sucker Punch notes, multiplayer will require a PlayStation Network account, as will a new PlayStation overlay that will debut with Ghost of Tsushima on PC and provide support for PlayStation Trophies.

Ghost of Tsushima heads to Windows PC on 16 May. The title is already available on PS4 and PS5. We reviewed it here.
