Ghost of Tsushima PC pre-orders cancelled in countries without PSN

...as Steam insists that Helldivers 2's similar delisting was Sony's doing.

Ghost of Tsushima PC pre-orders are being cancelled in countries without access to the PlayStation Network (PSN), just days before the title’s launch on Steam, Green Man Gaming, and Epic Games Store.

Last week, developer Sucker Punch told players that PSN linking wasn’t mandatory on PC, but that those that didn’t wouldn’t have access to multiplayer aspects of the title.

Now, and as reported by Eurogamer, those players who’ve pre-ordered in countries lacking PSN support are receiving emails that read, “The publisher of this game is now requiring a secondary account to play portions of this game — and this account cannot be created from your country.”

This action follows the delisting of Helldivers 2 from over 170 countries on Steam over similar issues. Helldivers 2 has done away with the mandatory linking of Steam accounts with the PlayStation Network, though the title is only available for purchase in regions that support the PSN.

In response to players, Steam has advised that the title’s delisting in “specific regions” was “as decided by the publisher”. Steam continued to say that it didn’t know “when the game might be made available in those countries” and that players should contact Sony directly to “share feedback”.

Neither Sony nor Sucker Punch have made comment on the matter as yet.

Ghost of Tsushima heads to Windows PC on 16 May. The title is already available on PS4 and PS5. We reviewed it here.
