Gears 5 Hivebusters expansion coming 15 December

Time to Escape.

The Gears 5 Hivebusters expansion will head to Windows PC, Xbox One and Xbox Series S & X on 15 December, Microsoft and The Coalition have today confirmed.

The expansion is priced at $29.95 AUD, or available for free to those with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. It includes a new 3-hour campaign featuring Gears 5′s Escape Mode characters Lahni, Keegan and Mac. It’s set on the volcanic Galangi islands, where “the island lava flows and sandy beaches are crawling with Swarm and a deadly new predator.”

Available in up to 3-player co-op in split-screen or online, the campaign will also let you use Ultimate Abilities “in a campaign story setting for the first time,” Microsoft has confirmed. For Achievement hunters, there will be 16 new Achievements to unlock, totalling 210 Gamerscore.

The content will also be bundled in a new release of the entire game called Gears 5: Game of the Year Edition, priced at $59.99 USD.

Gears 5 is available now on Windows PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series S & X and Android via Xbox Game Pass Ultimate Cloud Streaming.
