Ex-Sony Director Michael Ephraim now Chairman of Showdown

Former Sony Interactive Australia’s Managing Director, Michael Ephraim, has today been named chairman of Showdown.

Showdown is the exclusive distributor for Twitch here in Australia and New Zealand, and also runs an Esports division called Throwdown.

Ephraim will be responsible for driving the growth and direction of both Showdown and Throwdown. He’ll also oversee Showdown’s distribution partnership with Twitch here in Australia and New Zealand.

“I am glad to be joining Showdown at a very exciting time, when we’re seeing the massive growth and potential of esports overseas being matched here in ANZ,” Ephraim said.

“Showdown’s exclusive partnership with Twitch allows us to offer the brands we work with a deep interaction with the video gaming community that is unrivalled in this market, at a time when Twitch is second only to Netflix as the most watched live video platform.”

Ephraim was made redundant by Sony back in February 2017.
