First official Pokemon Go PvP tournament happening in August

The first official Pokemon Go PvP tournament will take place this August during the 2019 Pokemon World Championship, it’s been confirmed.

The event, which is set for 16 August, will run alongside traditional Pokemon trading card game events. While most — read, all but one — competitor slots are full for the tournament, those attending the USA-based event can apply to try to grab that last place in the roster right here.

Players confirmed for the Pokemon Go PvP tournament include well-known community members like Kieng alongside Game Freak’s Junichi Masuda and Shigeki Morimoto.

Pokemon Go is currently available on iOS and Android devices; a special Team Rocket event is offering up Shadow Pokemon right this very minute.
