Xbox CosPups celebrate The Year of the Dog

Xbox Asia has celebrated the Chinese Lunar New Year and Year of the Dog with a video starring the Xbox CosPups.

The video, while cute as a button, inadvertently reinforces the notion that Xbox doesn’t have a lot of iconic first-party characters in its stable. Only Halo‘s Master Chief and Gears of War‘s Marcus Fenix have been cosplayed as Master Chihuahua and Mutt-cus Fenix, respectively.

Rather than characters, the remaining Xbox CosPups have dressed up as franchises — Sea of Fleas (Sea of Thieves), Paw-za (Forza Motorsport) and PUG-G (PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds).

Check out the video below:

It’s not all doom and gloom — back in November 2017, Xbox head Phil Spencer asserted that the publisher would focus on building its first-party studios and IP. It late January 2018, rumours began to swirl that Microsoft was looking at acquiring either Valve, EA or PUBG Corp.

Echoing the video’s corresponding Xbox Wire statement, we’d also like to wish our readers in Greater China and across the globe a Gong Xi Fat Cai (Happy Lunar New Year).

Perhaps the biggest in-game celebration of the Year of the Dog is within Activision Blizzard’s Overwatch its Lunar New Year event is on now.
