Update: eBay’s addressed Stevivor’s concerns over the original list and has provided two new lists it calls correct. They’re below.

eBay didn’t provide any Switch data, though we’ve requested it.
While the above lists make a little more sense, they still have us scratching our heads. How about you?
Original story: Retail giant eBay today detailed the PS4 and Xbox One games purchased most by Aussies throughout 2018. Well, maybe.
From eBay’s press release, it seems someone at the company might not understand how sequels (or game releases, for that matter) work.
On PS4, eBay’s provided us with this list of most purchased titles:
- Call of Duty: Black Ops 4
- No Man’s Sky
- Red Dead Redemption
- Marvel’s Spider-Man
- God of War
Unless we’re talking Sony’s streaming PS Now service here — and we’re not because this is Australia — the original Red Dead Redemption isn’t available on PS4. Red Dead Redemption 2, though? Certainly.
The list on Xbox One is even more ridiculous:
- Forza Motorsport 7
- Forza Horizon 3
- Red Dead Redemption
- Call of Duty Ops2 (we’re assuming eBay means Call of Duty: Black Ops 2)
- Grand Theft Auto 5
The Xbox 360 version of Red Dead Redemption is backwards compatible on Xbox One, so this could be legit… but then again, the Call of Duty Ops2 entry really makes it hard to believe. That and Forza Horizon 4, the latest from Playground Games, isn’t on the list either… though the Aussie-centric Horizon 3 made the cut.
eBay also said that PS4 sales were double that of Xbox One over 2018 “despite delivering what was claimed to be [Sony’s] most disappointing E3 performance in years.” Strong words from eBay, especially in light of blockbuster first-party 2018 releases including God of War and Spider-Man.
