Diablo 4 beta issues will make full release “much better,” says Fergusson

Fingers crossed.

Diablo 4 beta connection issues were unfortunate, but will help to make the game’s full release “that much better” according to Activision Blizzard’s Rod Fergusson.

Players generally had issues logging in and accessing the beta, which Fergusson said was something players should expect as part of a trial.

“The word beta nowadays has kind of been misconstrued, where people start calling things beta that’s [actually] a marketing beta, and it’s just another term for a demo,” Fergusson told NME. “That’s not our case at all. Our beta is actually us testing our technology – especially on the server side. We had a little bit of a rocky start on Friday.”

Fergusson said a number of hotfixes were put in place and will be noticeable in an open beta taking place next weekend.

“We put out six hotfixes over the weekend, we solved dozens of issues and all of that work is going to pay off next weekend and then pave it for launch,” Fergusson continued. “Sometimes as a player it can be a little frustrating, but they have to recognise that they’re helping us make the actual launch of the game that much better.”

The open beta runs over 24-26 March.

Diablo 4 is available from 6 June on Windows PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X, PS4 and PS5.
