Destiny Update 2.02 is live and brings some important changes

Destiny Update 2.0.2 went live overnight and it goes a long way to fix some of Bungie’s more recent missteps.

Bungie, generally speaking, is headed in the right direction with Destiny. They’re actively listening to their community and are trying to evolve the game in the best way for the players. Sometimes they make mistakes, take something in the wrong direction. Other times they really, truly cock up. The nerf to weapon part drop rate back in 2.0.1a is a shining example of this. Thankfully they’ve gone a little way to remedying that this patch. Banshee-44, the weapon vendor in the Tower, now sells weapon parts which will hopefully alleviate some of the pain of the past month.

This patch see’s the listing of the items available via the new Refer-a-Friend program too, which includes a shader, a sparrow and a few emotes. YouTuber Arekkz Gaming show’s them and a few other patch changes off in this video, check it out.

Nightstalkers get a little love in 2.0.2 as well with the re-enabling of their Quiver perk. Quiver was the source of a rather large exploit a few weeks ago that even led to the postponement of the first Trials of Osiris in “The Taken King”. Well it’s back now so Nightstalkers may be just a little bit more viable in Crucible again.

That’s good timing too as this week also sees the second Iron Banner of “The Taken King” which has undergone a few changes of its own. This Iron Banner waves goodbye to Control, moving over to Clash instead. This makes more sense for the bounties in Iron Banner, they always favoured individual skill that was out of place in a teamwork based game mode. It’ll also be a little easier to obtain Iron Banner gear this time around, too. Faction packages now drop at ranks 3 and 5 and have the chance to contain an Iron Banner Ghost shell. Finally the Crucible Forged questline has received a major rework and now requires far, far fewer wins to complete. Now that is a welcome change.

There’s also a slew of bug fixes and adjustments, too many to list here, which you can read up on yourself in the full patch notes.
