Destiny 2 Forsaken changes Strikes, Nightfalls and Milestones

Destiny 2 Forsaken will bring huge changes to Strikes, Nightfalls and in-Director Milestones and more, Bungie has recently advised.

The changes, detailed in this week’s developer update, are as follows:

Strikes

Bungie has advised that Heroic Strikes will be retired on 28 August alongside Destiny 2 update 2.0.

Instead, those who own Forsaken will have the ability to play a Strike by selecting one of three difficulties:

  • Power 300
  • Power 400
  • Power 500

Once a Guardian’s Power is 40 more than a Strike option, they’ll lose access to select it — meaning Power 300 Strikes cannot be selected by a Guardian at 340 Power or above. The exception is Power 500 Strikes which will always be playable.

Strikes will also have modifiers, much like current Nightfall activities. Said modifiers will not be available between 28 August and 4 September.

Legacy players — or those without Forsaken — will only be able to select Strikes at 200 Power.

Nightfalls

Bungie advised of huge changes to Nightfall activities.

“The Nightfall activity is also being revisited for Season 4,” Bungie wrote. “Prestige difficulty is being retired, but the base difficulty for the Nightfall activity will increase.”

Moreover, “players will have the ability to choose one of three Nightfall strikes each week,” Bungie continued, making it easier for players to gun for a specific Nightfall unique reward.

Milestones

Milestones will be a little less in your face with Forsaken.

“The Milestone tray has been revamped in Forsaken, and will now specifically show the most important, nonrepeatable quests for every player of Destiny 2,” Bungie said.

“The campaign quests are a good example of this. Meanwhile, our world quests for destinations will now live in the Pursuits section of your character inventory. Many Milestones from Year 1 have been converted to activity challenges. These will continue to grant powerful rewards, but they will no longer be displayed in the Milestone tray. When you access the Director, you’ll see activity challenges in the tooltip of the associated activity.”

Meditations

Ikora’s Meditations will be retired with Forsaken, replaced with a Heroic story playlist instead. These new missions will be featured at 500 Power.

“Ikora Rey’s Vanguard Research reputation tokens will no longer be used as a currency after August 28 and will be removed from player inventories,” Bungie added. “The Legendary parade gear will also no longer be available, so if you want it, get it before August 28.”

Weapons changing to Kinetic type

The following current Special and Heavy weapons will change to Kinetic on 28 August:

  • Baligant
  • Shepherd’s Watch
  • Hawthorne’s Field-Forged Shotgun
  • Alone as a God
  • Perfect Paradox
  • The Frigid Jackal
  • Silicon Neuroma

The above weapons will lose their elemental damage attribute as part of the move.
