Death Stranding iPhone release delayed to 2024

2023 no more.

Death Stranding on iPhone is the latest — if not the last of the year — title to be delayed, publisher 505 Games has advised.

As per the announcement, the title — which will be playable on iPhone 15 Pro alongside iPad and Mac devices with an M1 chip — is now expected in early 2024.

“Here at 505 Games and Kojima Productions, we are excited to launch Death Stranding Director’s Cut on iPhone, iPad, and Mac,” the publisher advised on social media. “We just need a little more time! Stay tuned for a new release date in early 2024. We can’t wait to welcome more Porters to Death Stranding Director’s Cut.”

Death Stranding is one of a handful of titles either announced or now available on select iPhone, iPad and Mac devicesResident Evil Village and Resident Evil 4 are already available; I checked out the former as part of my look at the iPhone 15 Pro itself.

I didn’t dig Death Stranding when it was first released, writing, “[t]he problem with Death Stranding is that Hideo Kojima has become wholly self-indulgent, making something I’m sure he considers a masterpiece.

“Death Stranding is anything but, with its head so far up its own ass it’s almost funny. It has four title cards in total, popping up as you play, and will roll two complete sets of credits before you’ve finished,” I continued. “It goes on and on and on, thinking — falsely — that you’re enthralled in what’s occuring.”

Other titles intended for select iPad, iPhone and Mac devices include Assassin’s Creed Mirage and The Division Resurgence.

Death Stranding is currently available on PS4, PS5 and Windows PC.
